ESR opened its new WSL Truck Series season last night at Daytona with both drivers bringing home top-10 finishes in the 100-lap feature. A total of 27 drivers took time, with Justin Kern rolling off 3rd and Steven Burnett starting 9th. It didn’t take long for the ESR teammates to link up and move toward the front, with Kern leading 8 laps early in the race. During green-flag pit stops in Stage 1, Kern was hit with a speeding penalty, while Burnett stayed in contention and finished the opening stage in 6th.
In Stage 2, both ESR trucks spent much of the run inside the top 10. A caution midway through the stage shook up the pit cycle, with Burnett coming out 20th and Kern using the opportunity to get his lap back. By the end of Stage 2, both drivers were outside the top 10, but still in position to recover.
The final stage brought chaos. Burnett worked his way up to 2nd before contact from another driver sent him spinning. Late cautions and penalties pushed both ESR trucks toward the back, but neither driver quit. Kern charged back to finish 3rd, while Burnett battled home to 9th, giving ESR a strong pair of top-10 finishes for their first race in the WSL Truck Series
